This is a message from the universe to me to you…go get lost in the produce aisle and then drift home into your warm kitchen and get lost and wrapped up in this playlist I made you. Ideal for a cozy rainy night, in your comfies, light some candles, turn on all your lamps (I’d rather cook in the dark than be in overhead lighting), invite some friends over (or don’t) and make something that feels like a hug while listening to the most nourishing playlist I made you. Collectively, I think we’re all due for a home cooked meal...I like to think the rain came at an intentional time. An invitation to slow down so that the universe could hold us. Sometimes we need to slow down in order to be held.
When’s the last time you walked into the grocery store and let your intuition and craving be your list? Even the word “list” feels like its for bakers, so exact and militant..what’s joy if not straying from the expected..cooking should feel easy and spontaneous…let’s let it be that…freedom and liberation🔮
I just so happen to have a few silly little friend cooking playdates this week which feels like the perfect time to share this with you…just my curation of the finest tunes to get lost in while soaking in the wonders of being at home with people you love (most importantly yourself) 🕯️
One of my oldest memories is being told to stop touching everything. If we were shopping, I was touching. Everything from clothing to food.
I wanted to TOUCH IT ALL 🤏🤌🫳🫴ALL🤌🤲🫱OF🫲👐👉 IT
I was young and couldn’t help myself, what can I say. Well now im 26 and I still touch everything. Texture is language as far as I’m concerned. It’s such an important part of knowing what something is and if you’re craving it. We are all just children in adult bodies after all, and what is life if not exploring and finding playfulness even in the mundaneness of grocery shopping. I really believe an important aspect of roaming the produce aisle is touch. Go touch some produce. Knock yourself out. How are we supposed to know what we are craving if not for one of the most important senses. Touch and smell. Food is an all encompassing magical entity and the sum of all parts aka the ingredients must not be overlooked. It’s also just the romance of it all…how am I suppose to find someone in the produce aisle or at the farmers market if im not lingering a little and smelling some pineapple or softly groping some avocados? That’s my theory on finding love IRL, we’re all looking in the wrong places. Get off the apps, and get in aisle 2. Live in this delusional dream with me ☁️🌙 Dr. Gabor Maté recently said: “Don't be afraid to be disillusioned. It's better to be disillusioned than to be illusioned, and don't be afraid to be disidentified, you know, don't identify with something outside of yourself to the extent that you become uncritical and blind.”

I am a huge advocate for making time to cook in the kitchen with friends..even though I never feel like I do it enough and the restaurant scene in LA is a never-ending temptation of new openings and limited-time menu items. Essentially living in LA is a never-ending self-fulfilling, self-perpetuating prophecy of a food-scene nightmare, one might say an absurd and insurmountable amazing race of knowing you’ll never be able to try all of the restaurants on your list. And if you do, you’ll probably go bankrupt trying…enjoy this niche DTF meme because ya this is what we talk about over here in La La Land 🤸🤸
Alas, this rainy bout of weather has us all relinquished from our civil duties of ripping around town and exploring the food scene. We can stay home as 🐛 snug as a bug in a rug 🐛
If you need inspiration, here are a few nourishing meals I’ve got eyes for this week because they look + sound like a hug…👀
Chloe’s bowl of beans with roasted squash (looks fancy but is actually quite simple) Pierce Abernathy’s Carmelized potato and shallot soup 🥵 Babytamagoo’s pickle soup… Caroline Gelen’s French Dip Pizza…who has a Gozney I’m coming over lamb kofte with pickled red cabbage and cilantro yogurt from last week’s event with Chef Chloe!
Lastly, but certainly not least! Join us on March 10th for a Nour x Usal Salad Workshop
It will be an afternoon of abundance as we explore spring produce, what makes the perfect crunchy salad, what pair well together (proteins, greens, crunchies, herbs, etc) PLUS everyone will go home with a bottle of their very our Nour salad dressing and a few other goodies 🌞
BIG LOVE
Annie
